Met Eireann has further said that these very wet and windy conditions are expected on Friday night and will last the whole weekend.

Several areas have already received Orange Status. These include Cork and Waterford, which have the Status Orange snow and rain, while Clare, Tipperary, and Limerick have the Status Orange snow ice.

These developments follow an earlier warning by Met Eireann about colder weather this week.

According to Met Eireann, Frosty conditions, ice, and some wintry showers are expected this week, and temperatures could drop as low as -3 degrees.

‘An area of low pressure moves across Ireland on Monday, bringing outbreaks of rain. Some wintry falls are possible over the country’s north, but details remain uncertain, Met Eireann said.

‘Highest temperatures of 4 to 12 degrees (north to south). Cold on Monday night with frost and ice forming as temperatures fall back to between -1 and +3 degrees’.
